Nhu Xuan Hua: Eternal Inspiration from the Human Form

It is safe to say that Nhu Xuan Hua was destined for photographic stardom! Although she did not always have the support of her family due to her father being a painter and their concerns being one of financial stability, today she attributes who she is to the mere fact that she has simply fulfilled a hard-fought-for destiny.  Her journey into the arts was always an uphill battle to attain her creative goals and desires. At the age of 16, she started delving into the photographic world and veered off into a degree in Cinema in order to gain entry into Lycee Auguste Renoir where she graduated in 2011. Today this 28-year-old photographer is one of the most sought after in her business and for obvious reasons!

Photographic Process

Nhu admits that she draws her inspiration from the many ways in which the human body can be transformed. When asked about her creative process, Hua says that she starts with a theme or title and then creates a list of keywords that actually define the theme of the project. It entails quite a lot of research to build a visual or written base to use. She then looks at the various approaches she can use in each shot in order to gain a preconceived concept of each image she will create. In fact, it is almost like solving an equation for Nhu Xuan Hua!

Shoot Day – the Exploration of Emotions

Shoot day is when the results of all her preparations come into fruition – when that first image reveals itself – she admits that each shot has a certain mystery that will always compel one to go back into questioning who you truly are as a woman.

The process continues throughout her shoot and she chooses female subjects as the journey and the resulting story that is portrayed in each of her images is a personal one – the exploration of emotions such as love that can change and metamorph from one moment to the next.
