Vika Petlakh aka StillVika is a young energetic photographer who is absolutely absorbing every opportunity life has to offer her. She may be in her twenties, but she has an outlook on life that indicates she is wise and fearless at the same time. She has no formal art education but chose from a young age to hone her photographic ability. This approach to learning by doing has certainly paid off with images that encourage us to just live life and be who we are.

Artistic Background

Since the age of 12 Vika knew she wanted to pursue a career in the arts, however, she admits that she was not particularly good at the artforms that she tried. Dancing, painting, sculpting, and music resulted in a young Petlakh just being frustrated.

However, photography provided the outlet she needed for her creative drive and what started as a personal craft that she wanted to master, it turned into a legitimate business. Based in Valley Village, California she has learned how to match her visual imagery to fit into her lifestyle – one that she describes as boundless and natural.

The Inspiration Behind Vika Petlakh’s Photographic Process

Vika uses an unlimited photographic trial-and-error process to expand and push her personal boundaries as a photographer. She creates a parallel between her art and her life which results in images that are raw, passionate and provocative. Her constant exploration and experimentation into the visual medium of photography have set her on a global path that encompasses commercial, fine art, fashion, and creative photographic campaigns.

When it comes to working with models, Petlakh has personal knowledge of how to best capture each model and add the best creative directions, this expertise comes from being on the other side of the lens when she worked as a model herself.
