Artistic Background
Jose Javier aka Yosigo is 36 years old photographer. He was born in Donostia, Spain, but he currently lives in Barcelona. Yosigo started photography by a chance. He was working as a graphic designer for many years – but he realized that he wants a more dynamic work atmosphere than sitting in front of the computer. The photography, his initial passion, soon became his main preoccupation.

Yosigo’s World of Inspiration
The photographer’s inspiration comes from diverse sources. Yosigo is fascinated with the work of Stephen Shore – an American artist famous by ordinary, banal scenes and objects. Aside from this, the photographer is permanently stimulated with creative people who live in Barcelona and that pushes him every day to keep working.
The experience in the graphic design industry influenced his further career in photography – it led his creative identity and his perception of composition and space.
The style that defines me today is the sum of everything that I have been enjoying over the years.

The Aesthetic of Banal by Jose Javier
Jose Javier has one significant thing on his mind when taking photos. His wish is to get people fascinated by aesthetic. The photographer works with the analog camera – it is very important for the artist who truly enjoys all the process of taking and developing photos. The photographer published several books. One of them, “Greetings From”, is attached to mass tourism in the Mediterranean. The photos represent ordinary people and urban beaches with all the tourists’ attractions and the way they enjoy it. “Riu Avall” is based on the photographer’s trip through the Llobregat river. The river runs through Catalonia and ends in Barcelona and there flows into the Mediterranean. These photos represent aesthetic characteristic for the photographer. He shoots everyday life and people in banal scenes, calling the emotions of sadness and nostalgia.
